Dalton Porcelain

           Exotic, high fired porcelain sculptures made with a gentle sensual touch. Each piece is an original one of a kind design produced by the artist in porcelain clay.
           Fascination with the delicate strength and intricacy of natural forms and the fragile tenacity of fish and flowers is what inspires my work. I enjoy studying and representing the small details that give each sculpture its unique quality.
          Because of the fineness of the clay, it is possible to produce delicate forms with complex elements. The translucency of the fired work gives it a responsiveness to light unattainable with other clays. The lightness of the body reflects and accepts subtle coloration in a distinctive way.
           I began sculpting flowers early in my career and see many similarities between floral and fish forms. Often, design inspiration from the flowers in my gardens is translated into new ideas for my fish pieces. Working in porcelain allows me to capture these ideas and feelings and present them to you.
