Naked Men on Pottery

Studies of the human figure are found on my wheel thrown porcelain pottery. These figures capture the joy of being alive, the beauty of the body, and power of deep thought.

All human bodies are a wonder to behold....whether male or female, and I especially feel the nude male figure has been neglected by artists. Perhaps it's because most artists are men and/or women artists lack the courage to present these forms, whatever the reason, I am making an effort to rectify that.

Each piece is decorated with expressive portraits from the human species. Using the combined techniques of engobe and sgraffito, I carve the designs into my utilitarian porcelain pottery. Unlike most pottery on the market, which is "mass-molded" and production oriented, I hand throw and hand carve each piece, one at a time. These vessels are all original works of art.
